IN PROGRESS PROJECTS:
Lead Service Lines (water): The Village of Shabbona received a $30,000 grant from the IEPA for lead line inventory and had a company assist with finalizing required lead line inventory in 2023-2024. The village has 10 years to complete replacement of lead service lines within the community water supply distribution system. We have been addressing lead service lines as project have been done (Shabbona Road in 2024). As future infrastructure projects are reviewed, the village will include lead service line replacement as required. Lead & Copper water testing is done regularly, including having residents with lead service lines provide a water sample for public works.
COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Shabbona Road Water Improvement Project: This project was completed in the Fall of 2024. It replaced 6" and 4" water main with 8" water main on Shabbona Road and a 700' water main loop connection from Sequoya Street east along Comanche Avenue and along Shabbona Road north of Comanche for 480' were completed. These water main improvements allow the Village of Shabbona to improve water and fire flow as well as maintain compliance with current regulations.
Apache Street: This project was completed in the Fall of 2024. It addressed deteriorating roadway and improving storm drainage - new storm sewer, asphalt replacement, and some curb and apron replacements/additions were part of the project.
