Seeking Community Members: Join the Shabbona Zoning Board / Planning Commission!

Are you interested in helping shape the future development and growth of Shabbona? The Village of Shabbona is currently seeking dedicated community residents to serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals / Planning Commission.

About the Role

The Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission plays a vital role in our local government by reviewing:

  • Zoning Ordinance Variances: Hearing cases and requests regarding village zoning regulations.
  • Special Use Permits & Amendments: Reviewing zoning map changes, text amendments, and special use permit applications.
  • Community Growth: Helping guide local land use and development decisions to serve the best interests of Shabbona residents.

Meeting Details

  • Frequency: Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis (typically weekday evenings at 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM).
  • Location: Shabbona Village Hall, 206 S. Blackhawk Street. 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be a resident living within the Village of Shabbona for at least one year.
  • A desire to serve the community, collaborate with neighbor board members, and make fair, informed decisions regarding village growth and ordinances.
  • All civic-minded residents are encouraged to express interest!
